Participant Information Sheet for the UKMLA-CPSA (PLAB 2) Free Mock Test Study

Introduction:

Thank you for considering participation in our research study. This document provides you with information about the study so that you can make an informed decision about your participation. Please read this information carefully and ask questions if anything is unclear.


Purpose of the Study:

The purpose of this study is to evaluate a standardized system for conducting mock tests for the UKMLA-CPSA (formerly PLAB 2) exam. Our aim is to enhance the preparation process for OSCE-based examinations by providing standardized feedback and increasing accessibility to high-quality mock tests.


What Does the Study Involve?:

If you decide to participate, you will be asked to:

  • Participate in a one-station mock test conducted via Zoom, which will also be open for other CPSA aspirants to observe silently.

  • Allow the session to be recorded and transcribed for research purposes.

  • Receive immediate personalized feedback during the session, with a summary sent to you afterward.


Duration:

The mock test session will take approximately 30 minutes, including the feedback period.


Voluntary Participation:

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. You are free to withdraw at any time without giving any reason and without any negative consequences.


Confidentiality:

All information collected during this study will be kept confidential. Recordings and transcripts will be anonymized by removing any identifying details such as your face and name. Data will be stored securely and will only be accessible to the research team.


Risks and Benefits:

There are minimal risks associated with participating in this study. You may feel nervous or stressed during the mock test. However, the study provides the benefit of experiencing a simulated exam environment and receiving personalized feedback, which can aid in your exam preparation.


Data Use for Research:

By participating, you consent for your anonymized data (recorded session and transcript) to be used for research purposes. This data may also be published in academic journals or presented at conferences to help improve mock test methodologies globally.


Purpose of Data Collection:

  • Your data will be used to:

    • Schedule and manage your participation in the mock test.

    • Provide personalized feedback based on your performance.

    • Conduct research to evaluate and improve mock testing methodologies.


Data Protection and Privacy:

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Your data will be stored securely and will only be  accessible to the research team. It will be kept confidential and anonymized in any publications or presentations resulting from this study.

  • Withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal.
